Beauty December 2021

“Despite what anti-aging ads say, growing older can be better. Women who lie about their age – why?” Demi Moore

Forest and meadow

We’ve had enough of sweet vanilla bombs, of the same old blends and the scents that half the city wears on its neck. What we want are fragrances with recognition value, perfumes that have a soul and that merge with our personality. That’s why we love Juniper, the new fragrance from the German brand Retterspitz, for which perfumer Geza Schön mixed the ingredients. Juniper and basil open the fragrance, followed by jasmine and freesia, before tree resin and musk linger on the skin and lend Juniper its depth. Retterspitz, “Juniper”, 50 ml, 90.

Alien

We dust shades of brown on our eyelids and nuances of red on our lips. Normally. Time to change everything and try something new. On the catwalk, Salvatore Ferragamo shows us how it’s done: the models’ faces and décolletés are completely covered in silver. Okay, maybe it’s not for the office, but in a toned-down form it’s certainly a look for nights on the slopes. We grab glittery colors and shimmering shades and go wild with nail polish or powder brushes. If you like, dust subtle gold or bronze tones on your cheeks or cover your lips in metal. Important: It’s better to use the shimmer to create individual highlights instead of letting lips, eyes and cheeks sink into the overall look.

Artdeco, “Diamond Nail Lacquer”, vegan nail polish, approx. 15.-
Bobbi Brown, Highlighting Powder in “Pink Glow”, pearl-enriched highlighter, approx. 69.-
Mac, Frost Lipstick in “On And On”, lipstick with luminous pearlescent shine, approx. 28.-

Shake it, baby!

By the time our beauty products are in our bathroom, they have often seen more of the world than any Insta-backpacker. To shorten transportation routes and save on plastic packaging, designer Martina Schwarz and her label Blackmarket have created a liquid soap that only becomes liquid in the bathroom at home. The packaging is part of the product, which turns into a creamy hand soap at home when combined with warm water, a little shaking and some rest. A pure savings round: packaging, plastic, water, emissions. We like that! Blackmarket, hand soap, bottle and four refills, approx. 44, available from February 2022, getblackmarket.com

Yesterday

It’s all been done before! So what? What does it matter that headscarves and scarves artfully knotted around hairstyles have already made us rejoice in other seasons? The prints are new and so are the ways in which the silk or cotton scarves are knotted. With a little dry shampoo and one or two hairpins, the fabric won’t slip on your head and, when artfully knotted, can even withstand the worst of autumn storms.

Copacabana

In the cold winter, we dream of umbrella drinks and palm trees swaying in the wind. Phillip Lim brings summer to Europe for Aveda and gives gift sets and hair accessories an exotic flair. For the colorful and cheerful prints, the designer draws inspiration from nature, its flowers and plants. What brings joy in the bathroom also brings joy under the tree: various gift sets wrapped in colorful patterns by Phillip Lim with our favorite Aveda products delight us and our friends. Aveda X 3.1 Phillip Lim, gift sets, limited edition, from approx. 24.-

Marmorera

The nail breaks off, the color becomes dull, and after a few days you have to brush it again: shitty manicure… Well, if you need a break from brushing, you can rely on nail foils from Avoa. They not only save us nerves, but also enchant us with their styles, which we would otherwise run to the nail salon for. Stick on, file off and seal with a coat of clear varnish: It’s quick, lasts a long time and can be removed with normal nail polish remover. Avoa, nail foils in “Romancing the Stone”, 16 foils, approx. 6.-, avoa-beauty.com
