Shortcuts Beauty November 2019

“There is no way that I go outside with just foundation. I look like a potato!” Rico Nasty

Wonder Woman

Snow White skin and Little Red Riding Hood attitude: it’s no wonder that Helena Rubinstein’s marriage proposals flew in like wish lists to Santa Claus. She never gave in to any of them – at least not before she founded her own beauty label. Around 1910, only actresses or prostitutes wore lipstick and mascara – it was Rubinstein who finally made cosmetics socially acceptable for all other women. So much for the short version: you can read the full story in Michèle Fitoussi’s autobiography “Helena Rubinstein: The Adventure of Beauty” Rizzoli, ca. 40.-.

Bondage

Perfume can not only be sprayed on – but also literally worn thanks to Diptyque. Goodbye atomizer, hello scented ribbon! The braided strap with the fragrances Do Son, Eau Rose or Tam Dao is simply placed around the wrist and fastened with a gold clasp. Every movement starts the olfactory journey anew, and when it comes to an end, the dispenser case is used again. Diptyque, “Perfumed bracelet”, case with approx. 30 bracelets including clasp in Eau Rose, Do Son or Tom Dao, approx. 79.-

Close the earth

Oily skin, acne, spots… the list of things that make looking in the mirror in the morning an ordeal is long. What helps: cleanse the skin regularly with clay at . Grease, sebum and bacteria are drawn out of the pores, while sodium and potassium bind water sustainably and thus moisturize the skin. The clay pearls from the Korean beauty brand Chok Chok are also enriched with pineapple and papaya enzymes that gently exfoliate the skin, while rice bran, oats, mung beans and pearl barley provide extra care. Mash with a little water and cleanse the face with the resulting mixture once a week. Oh K!, “Chok Chok Cleansing Clay Beads”, 34 pieces, 34 g, approx. 17.-.

Balancing act

Nothing helps when it rains. So don’t do it, and don’t even try to blow-dry your hair, which will turn into frizzy shaggy manes after five minutes in the fresh air. If you’re going to make the effort, then at least make pretty braids that can withstand wind and weather instead of throwing in the towel . A little practice is definitely needed to braid the braids seen on Paco Rabanne or Elisabetta Franchi: Placed centrally on and around the crown of the head, Dutch braids make their way towards the back of the head. Dutch? This means that you do not place the strands of hair on top of each other, but underneath each other, creating the illusion that the finished braids are on top. Experienced braiders combine several braids, while others try one and knot the hair into a bun at the nape of the neck. R+Co, “Dry Shampoo Paste”, 62 g, approx. 36.- .-,Goldwell, “Creative Texture Dry Boost”, dry texture spray. 200 ml, approx. 24.

Yin & Yang

Light and dark, skincare and make-up, Clarins and The Kooples. The two French brands shake hands at and give the Huile Confort Lèvres a fresh coat of paint. The oil, which not only lightly colors the lips , but also provides intensive care thanks to hazelnut and jojoba oil, comes in two new variants: lacquer black and  marble white. Depending on the lip color, creates very individual nuances. Clarins X The Kooples, Huile Confort Lèvres in “Dark Stone” and “Light Stone”, approx. 31.-

Precious

Hollywood raves about them. However, Nazan Schnapp’s products are worth keeping an eye on even without the recommendation of Emma Watson and her friends. Gemstones, clay and plants are among the ingredients that make masks, cleansing products and creams so special. The beauty products of Nazan Schnapp, who launched her own line in 2011 due to a lack of good vegan alternatives, are created in the heart of Zurich. Preservatives, fillers and chemical ingredients are as far away from creams and co. as the devil is from holy water. Not only the list of ingredients is impressive, but also the result: moisturized, relaxed and nourished skin www.nazanschnapp.com. Nazan Schnapp, Highlighter Balm in “Luminous Youth Diamond Sheer”, approx. 54, Nazan Schnapp, “Jasmine Orchid Facial Oil”, 30 ml, approx. 102, Nazan Schnapp, “May Rose Hydrating + Balancing Face Mist”, 50 ml, approx. 24.-

Virgin

It’s not always busiest where the music is loudest . It’s a similar story with nail trends: red shades may scream for attention, but makes us yawn after the third week at the latest. This is one reason why white is hot this fall: The color looks really fresh on nails that have been filed short and well-groomed. Make sure you apply the polish accurately and seal the styling with a glossy top coat. Christian Louboutin, “Manicure Care”, approx. 60.-, Alessandro, “Honeymoon”, approx. 16.-
