Test of patience
Too much coffee is unhealthy – and counterproductive if we dare to touch our eyes with a steady hand. Discovered at Elisabetta Franchi, in love in seconds and executed in multiple attempts. The bottom line: first mark the corners with liquid eyeliner and then paint on them with gusto.
New Perfume
Bouquet
Nature provides us with living space, food, recreation – and last but not least: inspiration. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and Frank Gehry, both artists, one in perfumery, the other in architecture, also make use of it. Together they developed “Myriad”, the new addition to Louis Vuitton’s “Les Extrait Collection” perfume family. Myriad is based on oud, known as black gold, which gives the fragrance its warmth. The pink flacon also contains saffron, cocoa, ambrette and white musk. Speaking of the bottle: Frank Gehry experimented with aluminum for its lid and was inspired by natural, fluid forms in nature.

Movie
A Life in Beauty
The real artists work behind the scenes on the catwalks. Always there in the 70s and 80s: François Nars, make-up artist, photographer, creative director and father of his own beauty brand. Nars has seen them all, from Naomi Campbell to Christy Turlington, and not least conquered the beauty world with its “Orgasm” blush. Nars Cosmetics is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year – reason enough to make a movie about the life of its patron. Lisa Immardino Vreeland has taken on this task, combining film footage from old Hollywood to modern times with backstage appearances by François Nars and catwalk clips to create a documentary that belongs on every beauty fan’s must-see list.

Unfuck the World
Soap opera
There are things you can do to make the world a little better. For example, using bar soap instead of the plastic-wrapped alternative. The rectangular favorites from the Swiss label The Soap and the Sea, which are made exclusively from natural, certified organic ingredients such as coconut oil and shea butter, are just the thing. Purely natural fragrances such as lemon, eucalyptus, rosemary, mandarin or ginger are also used to perfume them. Everything is environmentally friendly, free from palm oil, plastic and animal testing, vegan and completely without a double bottom. The Soap and the Sea produces its bar soaps in Spain by the sea using the traditional cold saponification process and donates half of its profits to marine conservation.

The Ritual
The secret is not always in the formulation of a cream. In fact, it helps to take enough time to apply them – and to have a suitable tool to hand. The Sorea label therefore not only provides us with beauty products based on the Vietnamese healing method Dien Chan, but also with the right tools to apply them to the face and body. The Yang double roller reaches as many as 300 reflex points on the face while rolling, releasing energy blockages, activating blood circulation in the skin and supporting its regeneration. What’s more, there’s simply no better feeling than taking the right amount of time for your beauty routine.

It’s nice to see what can be done with a bit of dexterity and a bucket of patience. If we have some time in the near future, we’ll go for this cheeky Gretchen hairstyle from Akris, with which we celebrate Oktoberfest every day.
