Alain Paul, a former professional dancer, never lets himself be lulled by the romance of the theater. His collections look beyond the glitzy performance and focus on the rehearsals, the exhaustion, the instinct, and the moment when discipline slips. For Spring-Summer 2027, under the title “The Scene,” he turns his attention to what happens after the performance. Paul is less interested in the flawless ballerina than in the disheveled dancer who slips through the stage door and heads straight out into the night.
Partly inspired by the club-influenced choreography of Sharon Eyal and (LA)HORDE, the collection thrives on paradoxes: beautifully unresolved, yet never out of control. Traditional tailoring is given an elastic twist and pulled close to the body, creating silhouettes that feel less like business power dressing and more like bodies primed for movement.
Tracksuits are losing their athletic character, while drawstrings are making their way onto pencil skirts, dresses, and tops, allowing the wearer to reshape the fabric. Theatrical allusions appear more as trompe-l’œil fragments than as complete costumes: cardigans reduced to their visible fronts, unbuttoned shirts, and leather dance knee pads repurposed as bags.
