FACES and Manhattan show the most beautiful beauty looks of spring with Alessa and Anna Winter. High above the rooftops of Berlin, we caught up with Anna and Alessa between the shoot and asked them to give us their best Berlin tips for the German capital:
FACES: What does Berlin have that other cities don’t?
Anna & Alessa Winter: Berlin is cosmopolitan, has a large creative scene and is much more tolerant and accepting than other cities. Here, everyone can be who they are or who they want to be.
F: Berlin is…
AW & AW:…a city where anything is possible.
F: What do you miss about Berlin when you haven’t been there for a long time?
AW & AW: Our friends and our neighborhood as well as the variety of restaurants and good coffee places.
F: What are your three favorite restaurants in Berlin, and what do you order there?
AW & AW: Alessa orders the green bowl and Anna the glass noodle salad at Klub Kitchen, we share the avocado bread at Distrikt Coffee and the hummus platter at Joseph.
F: Where’s the best coffee?
AW & AW: At Refinery Coffee. Be sure to order the Oat Capp and the banana bread here!
F: Which neighborhood is completely overrated and which is underrated?
AW & AW: In our opinion, Friedrichshain is totally overrated, while Grunewald is underrated.
F: What is the current place to be?
AW & AW: Frea Bakery, here you can have an enormously delicious vegan breakfast.
F: Where do you take someone who has never been to Berlin?
AW & AW: To the new National Gallery, to Museum Island and up to the Soho roof terrace.
F: Which club do you like to queue up for in Berlin?
AW & AW: We hardly ever go partying and when we do, it’s at the 808. (laughing)
F: Which bar do you meet your friends in and which one do you take your parents to for a glass of wine?
AW & AW: We meet up with friends in the Torbar. We always like to try out new restaurants with our parents, most recently we went to Café Frieda.
F: The best neighborhood in the city is…
AW & AW:…definitely center.
F: Where does Berlin show the most charm?
AW & AW: Berlin is at its most charming for us in summer. We like to go to the Arkona flea market and then grab a juice at Juicery before taking a leisurely stroll through the city.
F: Where is your favorite place to look out over the city?
AW & AW: The Baret Berlin has a great roof terrace.
F: Where can you find the real, authentic Berlin?
AW & AW: In Kreuzberg / Neukölln. Unfortunately, we are here far too rarely.
F: A perfect Sunday in Berlin begins and ends where?
AW & AW: We start the day with a jog in the Tiergarten, then have breakfast with friends at Districkt Coffee, walk through Monbijou Park and visit the new National Gallery before meeting for dinner at Yafo and later watching a movie at the Zoo Palast.
