We recently read that Montenegro is the new Monaco. Not that we think too much of Monaco’s current luxury frippery, but we do think a lot of the black-and-white Hollywood charm of Grace Kelly’s day. In Montenegro, people still prefer to grill freshly caught fish rather than microwave some fancy convenience food package, and the Adriatic Sea here is as clear as it was in Rimini in the days of Italian grandeur. Major entrepreneur Samih Sawaris wants to transform the coastal village of Lutica Bay into a luxury boutique resort with a marina by 2028 (lusticabay.com) and the World Travel and Tourism Council estimates that Montenegro’s tourism potential will be higher than anywhere else in the world by 2021. So let’s go and delay the late summer a little longer – before the insider tip is no longer an insider tip and prices explode.
