You shouldn’t compare one city with another. If you did, Gothenburg would be the “new Amsterdam” or a “little London”. The city is quiet and cozy, but still has its finger on the pulse. This cool vibe, this lightness, the style, the joie de vivre – everything is just right in Gothenburg. Here you feel at home and cosmopolitan at the same time, you can sense the familiarity and still feel excited. That tingling in your stomach doesn’t stop any time soon, and that’s what keeps you coming back. Jelena Loutchko likes to walk and appreciates being able to reach everything in Gothenburg on foot. This month, she reveals where we should definitely go.

Food
Gothenburg is known for its good food. Café Da Matteo has the crispiest bread rolls and the best pastries, while Café Kastello serves delicious breakfasts. Junk food maniacs can enjoy burgers with imaginative names such as “Smoke on the Water” at restaurant 2112. Mexikanska Monarkin serves authentic Mexican dishes – be sure to order the fish tacos! In the evening, make yourself comfortable in Björn’s bar with a glass of wine and a platter full of cheese and meat delicacies. Tip: The truffle salami is a hit!

Shopping
Clean and chic, that’s Scandinavian clothing. Always a good idea: Weekday. The largest store in Gothenburg can be found on Kungsgatan. Here you’ll find cool second-hand fashion from Beyond retro on the second floor. The Grandpa store sells clothes and accessories by Nordic and international designers, as well as a handful of vintage items and furniture. Just a few steps further on, you can browse through second-hand clothes at Ragtime . If you love design and interior articles, Artilleriet and Rum21 are the right place for you. You can find cool souvenirs at the Röhsska Museum and beautiful plants at the Palmhuset in Trädgårdsföreningen.

Party
The most famous nightlife street in Gothenburg is Andra långgatan. Here, bars and pubs are strung together like pearls on a necklace. Right next door is Pustervik, where the hip and cool of the city meet for concerts and events. Club Yaki-Da invites you to dance and chill out on four floors. The Nefertiti, a nightclub with jazz music and the right vibe, is a little more cozy. The wildest parties take place at the weekend in Mythos, Gothenburg’s little Berghain.
