Winter is saying goodbye and the gloves are disappearing into the closet. So that we can appear with a fresh glow and well-groomed hands in time for spring, we provide the right tips for beautiful nails here.
Are your nails dry and splitting again?
It is particularly important to take a close look at your health – hormonal imbalances, lack of sleep, nicotine or stress can be the cause.
If our nails lack strength and hardness, miracle products such as biotin, iron and zinc can help.
These stimulate the production of keratin, which is responsible for the strength of the nails and thus protects them from breaking. The three substances can be found in pumpkin seeds, pulses, lentils and eggs, among other things.
Another nutrient that helps with nail growth in particular is vitamin A. The motto here is: the more red, the better! Carrots, tomatoes, red peppers, cherries and grapefruit are packed full of the cell-renewing active ingredient, but spinach, broccoli and parsley are also suppliers of beta carotene and vitamin A. Omega-3 fatty acids, which we can secure with a rich lunch thanks to walnuts, salmon and avocado, also help against soft and flaking nails.
If we then set about caring for the nails, caution and a gentle approach are recommended! Instead of scissors and nail clippers, we prefer to use a sand file. The right filing technique? Always file gently in one direction per pull, and from the outside in, to avoid cracks and damage. We prefer to reduce nail polishing to a maximum of twice a month, because the shiny finish may be beautiful, but it’s harmful!
A hand scrub or nail bath is also a good idea from time to time: exfoliation removes dead skin cells and guarantees supple skin, while a nail bath with nourishing oils such as jojoba, almond or castor oil provides the perfect care boost. If you want to go one better or are struggling with particularly dry skin, you can apply a hand mask and should use hand cream every day.
When spring cleaning, it’s also worth protecting your hands with gloves – that way your manicure will stay beautiful for longer!
Before applying the color, it makes sense to give your nails a nail polish break in between. Once this is over, we naturally look forward to painting! To begin with, the nails must befree of grease, moisture and dust particles, otherwise the polish could come loose or form lumps. Once this is guaranteed, we use a nourishing base coat, which protects the nail from discoloration and fills the first grooves – so we are prepared for the color of our choice. Our favorites? Black, white, red and soft pink always work, but if you fancy something a little more flashy, don’t let it hold you back! Once the colored polish has been applied with a five-minute drying break, a glossy or matte finish helps to seal it well and also ensures that it lasts for days – so our hands are beautiful and well-groomed again!
