Those were the days when we listened to our music on records and CDs and searched for the best acoustic treats in the depths of our favorite record store. Today everything is quicker, Spotify on, genre in, the algorithm helps, and there’s music à go go. What will be lost, apart from decent money for the artists and the nostalgic flipping of CD sleeves? The bags in which we carried our finds home, the design of which attracted at least as much attention as the music inside. Jonny Trunk has collected them all, pulled from the collections of music freaks, from the forgotten inventory of closed record stores or from his own stock: bags from the 40s to the 90s, over 500 in number. There are also stories that go to the heart like the music of your favorite artist to the ear, tales of the rise and fall of the record store and its glory in between.
