What sounds so quaint and cute is actually a really modern city. It is not without reason that Malmö is the third largest metropolis in Sweden after Stockholm and Gothenburg, as it is home to over 700,000 people. No more charming Swedish cottages, things are really taking off here in terms of design. Some deride the Turning Torso, the city’s new landmark, as an ugly wrench in the works, while others see it as a breath of fresh air that is currently blowing through the streets. Cafés and bars are springing up faster than you can drink an espresso on ex, and when it comes to boutiques, this city has long been giving its big sister Stockholm a run for its money. Wilma Olsson has put together a list of her hometown’s favorites for FACES.

Eating and drinking in Malmö
There is no big breakfast in Malmö. Nevertheless, there are a few places where you can start the day feeling full. The Noir Vin & Kaffekultur is known for its good coffee and delicious breakfasts such as toast with ricotta and rhubarb compote or scrambled eggs with parmesan. Cinnamon buns are a must in Sweden, and the best ones can be found at Hollandia, the city’s oldest patisserie. Great coffee can be found on every corner in Malmö, for example at Solde Kaffebar & Coffee Roasting or at Lilla Kafferosteriet. In the Saluhall food hall, you are spoiled for choice: ramen or pastrami sandwich? Fish, falafel or burger?
