The Gwand celebrates with the Gwand Sustainable Festival 2023 from 31. August until 3. September 2023 and invites us to four days full of sustainability.
We love fashion, but we don’t love everything about it. Because it has a big problem: the fashion industry, which supplies us with cool pieces by the meter, is responsible for five to ten percent of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide – uff. It’s clear that something has to change. The Gwand thinks so too. Launched in 1993, Gwand awarded fashion prizes until 2004, for example to the designer Raf Simons, and organized major events that caused a stir in the industry. But as fast as the fashion carousel turns, the world is also changing. That’s why Gwand has been focusing on making the world a better place with fashion since 2021. The new focus: sustainability.
30th anniversary: Gwand Sustainable Festival 2023
At this year’s Gwand Sustainable Festival, the Gwand celebrates its 30th birthday – in environmentally conscious style, of course. From the August 31 to 3. September 2023, the Musikpavillon in Lucerne will be all about sustainability in fashion and everyday life. Collections from labels that combine cool aesthetics and environmentally conscious production await us. There’s also plenty of entertainment and food, in other words everything you need for a successful weekend program. For us it’s clear: off to Lucerne to the Gwand Sustainable Festival, where we stroll from stand to stand, grab a portion of vegan momos and chat with designers about the latest pieces. And if it gets too hot, we simply grab one of the sustainable bikinis and jump into the cool water – after all, Lake Lucerne is right on the festival’s doorstep.
