For the Ujoh Spring-Summer 2027 collection, Mitsuru Nishizaki blurs the lines between familiar clothing categories. Tailoring meets workwear, denim, and athletic wear; functions overlap, proportions shift, and garments are reinterpreted without losing sight of their origins.
Women’s Wear
The structural anchor here is raw indigo denim. Its natural sturdiness lends weight to a wardrobe otherwise characterized by asymmetry, layered looks, and visible constructions. Cropped proportions, elongated panels, double belts, visible seams, and irregular hems break with the familiar, functional language of denim, while flowing black and cream-colored pieces provide the necessary softness. Traditional Japanese craftsmanship provides a brilliant counterpoint through hand-painted floral fabrics from Kyoto, which introduce vibrant pink and coral red into an otherwise subdued color palette.

Men’s Wear
Men’s fashion focuses on relaxed tailoring. While pinstripes, shirting fabrics, and workwear-inspired elements remain prominent, formal codes are systematically softened by roomy pants, loose jackets, asymmetrical closures, and layered constructions. Black, charcoal gray, and pale neutral tones dominate, complemented by rich rust hues that lend the garments an unmistakable warmth. The proportions remain wide and loose, making the tailoring feel less rigid without losing its identity.

In both lines, Ujoh finds freedom not through conformity but through complete reinvention. Nothing is completely abandoned: denim remains denim, tailoring remains tailoring, but the rules governing how we wear them become far more flexible.
