Bye Bye “Sex and The City”: these are our favorite fashion moments

It’s the end of an era: Carrie and co. flickered across our screens for the last time in mid-August 2025. But before you can finally pull out your handkerchiefs, we take a look back at the most iconic outfits from “Sex and the City” and the sequel “And Just Like That “.

“Are you more of a Charlotte or a Samantha?” This question has broken many an icebreaker. Now the “Sex and the City” franchise is officially over, we couldn’t help but wonder: which looks from the cult series about sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her friends Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) made our jaws drop the most?

The original, which premiered 27 years ago, has not only sparked conversations about love, dating and friendship across generations – although some storylines have aged rather badly – but has also provided plenty of fashion inspiration. It’s hard to imagine pop culture without Carrie’s Newspaper Dress by John Galliano (Dior, Fall/Winter 2000), Charlotte’s old-money aesthetic-defining ensembles, Samantha’s powersuits and Miranda’s minimalist business looks.

The tastemaker wears Prada

The fact that the series made fashion hearts beat faster is not least thanks to Patricia Field. The stylist, who was later also responsible for the looks in “The Devil Wears Prada”, made fashion history with accessories such as the Fendi Baguette bag and Carrie’s legendary Manolo Blahnik heels collection (thanks to rent control).

In Michael Patrick King’s spin-off “And Just Like That” – which was celebrated by many fans as more of a hate-watch – Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago took over the costume design. Even if opinions about the outfits here differed, the series once again provided food for thought.

To say goodbye to the four unequal friends and their closets full of couture: the looks that brought a smile to our fashion lovers’ faces. (No claim to completeness)
